About Advance Orthotic Prosthetic Services, Inc. in Auburn & Brunswick, ME

Established in Auburn in 1994 by David A. Johnson, C.O., Advance Orthotic Prosthetic Services provides quality orthotic devices, treatment, and follow-up visits to patients. Our goal is to provide the personal attention and individualized care that seem to have been lost in larger companies.

You can trust Advance Orthotic Prosthetic Services, Inc. for all of your prosthetic or orthotic needs. We offer a range of products, support, and guidance to all of our patients.

What is Orthosis?

Orthotics is the profession of designing, fabricating, fitting, and supervising the use of external devices that provide support for abnormal or weak joints and/or muscle groups. The need for an orthotic device is based on clinical assessment and a physician's prescription to restore physiological function and/or cosmesis of a patient. Certified Orthotists are specifically trained and educated to help patients restore mobility and improve their quality of life through the use of corrective, supportive, and assistive devices. These devices, called orthosis, are custom fit, designed, fabricated, and/or modified to fit an individual's needs, and compensate for a neuro-musculoskeletal disorder of acquired condition.

What is Prosthesis?

Prosthetics is the profession of providing or managing the use of a custom-designed, fabricated, modified, and fitted external limb or other assistive devices for patients who have lost limbs due to traumatic injury, diabetes, cancer, vascular disease, or congenital disorders. A prosthetic device restores, as completely as possible, the appearance and function of a partial or full missing limb. Certified Prosthetists are specifically trained and educated to custom design, fabricate, fit, or modify devices to fit a patient's needs, and replace an absent limb. Due to the vast differences in human anatomy, creating a prosthesis is a custom, intricate procedure requiring a high degree of skill combined with sophisticated technology.

Facility

Consults, Molding, Measuring, and Fittings are performed by our practitioners in all of our locations. All fabricating is done in our Auburn Facility under the direct supervision of the Practitioner.

This allows construction of the custom orthosis to be under direct supervision of the Prosthetist/ Orthotist/ Pedorthist that evaluated the patient. It also ensures quality control and all modifications and adjustments are easily completed in a timely manner.

Billing

Our billing department will be glad to assist you in your billing needs. We hope that you will understand the complexity and the individuality of each insurance policy. We are Medicare and Medicaid providers, as well as many other managed care programs.

Once you have provided us with all of your insurance information we will verify insurance eligibility if needed. After you have seen our practitioner and you have a care plan going forward, our staff will bill your insurance. Once we obtain approval your orthotics or devices will be fabricated and we will call you to arrange an appointment for a fit.

Most people have insurance of some sort. Unfortunately however, that does not guarantee that your services will be paid for by your insurance.

If your insurance denies the request, or you have deductibles that have not been met, we will advise you of your cost of the services. We accept check or credit card for payment. Also, for your convenience, we have a partnership with CareCredit where financing is available if qualified. CareCredit is a GE Money company that offers no-interest and low-interest payment plans based on your needs and budget. For more information and to apply, please visit www.carecredit.com. You may also pick up information and an application in our Auburn or Brunswick offices.
